Help your community welcome America's newest citizens

Partner with Welcome.US

There are 8.7 million green card holders eligible for U.S. citizenship today. Most won't start the process because they face the long journey alone. When your organization partners with Welcome.US, you mobilize trained volunteers from your own community to guide them across the finish line.

Do not give up your dreams and your goals. It's not very hard if a person starts and says, 'I can do it.'"
Lolav, achieved U.S. citizenship in April 2026

Lolav's story

Lolav grew up in northern Iraq. After years of paperwork and processes, she made her journey to the United States.

Lolav had already achieved so much—but becoming a U.S. citizen, the final step in her American story, still seemed hard. A 128-question civics exam. An interview, in English, with her citizenship on the line. She studied alongside her engineering coursework, her job, and all the other responsibilities of life.

Lolav was matched with her Citizen Guide, Susie. For about an hour a week over 10 weeks, they met on Zoom. They went through flashcards. They practiced the interview. They got to know each other. In March 2026, Lolav passed her interview, and in April, she took the oath of U.S. citizenship. Susie was there.

They're offering you the chance to make your life more interesting. To learn how big and crazy and varied the world is."
Susie, Citizen Guide

One new American for every match made

Your community can do this. We make it easy

Partners play a critical role in helping us reach both eligible “learner” participants and potential volunteers. By joining the Citizenship Guide program, your organization can:

  • Address a clear and growing gap in available services
  • Offer your members or audience a practical, meaningful way to get involved
  • Align with a widely supported effort rooted in service and community
  • Be part of a national network advancing integration and civic participation

Pick the level that fits your community

Partners engage at the level that works for them. From a single social post to a community resource, every contribution moves someone closer to citizenship.

  1. Amplify the opportunity. Share Citizen Guide volunteer opportunities with your network (email, newsletter, blogs, SMS). Feature the initiative on your website. Promote key milestones and calls to action.
  2. Collaborate on campaigns. Co-create social media content or storytelling campaigns. Highlight volunteer and participant experiences. Participate in coordinated outreach moments.
  3. Activate at events. Feature the Citizen Guide programming at your events. We offer an interactive on-site activation plus low-touch materials. Host info sessions or invite Welcome.US to speak.
  4. Engage your community. Encourage your staff, members, clients, or volunteers to become Citizen Guides. Integrate the initiative into existing service or engagement programs.
  5. Connect newcomers to a Citizen Guide. If your organization already serves green card holders, you can refer them to us for one-on-one citizenship support. We'll match them with a trained Citizen Guide at no cost.

Why we’re launching the Citizen Guide program

Welcome.US is a national initiative built to inspire, mobilize, and empower Americans and American institutions from all corners of the country to welcome those seeking refuge here and help them thrive.

Since 2021, Welcome.US has:

  • Mobilized 2.4 million Welcomers across all 50 states and 26,000 zip codes
  • Granted $22 million to 216 community organizations in 40 states, the majority faith-, veteran-, or diaspora-led
  • Trained and supported more than 848,000 Welcomers and partners
  • Carried 590 stories of welcoming in 70% of U.S. media markets

The Citizen Guide program is the natural next step. 8.7 million green card holders eligible for U.S. citizenship today, and federal integration support is shrinking. The gap is here. The volunteers are ready. We're launching now because the moment is right.
