When members of Antioch Church in Bend, Ore., desired to welcome refugees to their community, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) made that hope a reality through the Welcome Corps, as their designated private sponsor organization. After forming a private sponsor group, the church members provided a safe pathway for a family from Colombia to the U.S., starting a transformative and mutually impactful journey. The IRC provided sponsors with critical support, training, and suggestions along the way. As the Bend community helped the family find their footing, people who were once strangers became friends and beloved neighbors.
Everyday Americans, like the Antioch sponsor group, can come together to aid refugees in restarting their lives. Discover how you can help displaced families thrive at WelcomeCorps.org
