Chicago—One of the top U.S. cities to welcome newcomers—celebrates World Refugee Day

Chicago is one of the top 10 cities in the country to resettle Afghan newcomers. On World Refugee Day in 2022, Welcome.US installed a 35-foot structure that encouraged visitors to share messages of welcome. Over 160,000 people witnessed the #BeAWelcomer installation in honor of #WorldRefugeeDay, and people sent almost 600 postcards with messages of welcome for our new neighbors.
