Ukrainian Newcomers Find Refuge and Inspire a Community

Hartsville, SC | After watching the headlines about the war in Ukraine unfold and witnessing people fleeing their homes with only what they could carry, Dennis and Kathy were moved to find a way to help. They connect with Polina and bonded over their mutual love of dogs. With Kathy and Dennis as their sponsors, Polina, her son, and her friend Max found refuge in Hartsville, SC, and were quickly embraced by the Hartsville community – finding a new extended family in the process.
