Hosted with REACT DC and Special Operations Association of America, U.S. veterans will volunteer at the hiring fair on Nov. 11 and Nov. 12
SACRAMENTO—Welcome.US is partnering with REACT DC and the Special Operations Association of America to host a hiring fair for Afghan and Ukrainian newcomers on Friday, Nov. 11 and Saturday, Nov. 12. This marks the sixth in a series of hiring fairs hosted by Welcome.US and its partners across the country in the last several months.
The first day of the fair falls on Veterans Day, and in recognition of the veteran community’s continued service and commitment to our Afghan allies, Welcome.US and REACT DC are grateful to partner with the Special Operations Association of America (SOAA) on the event. Former members of the Afghan and Ukrainian military are specially invited to this hiring fair for resume review by veterans of the United States military.
The two-day event is hosted by the Hyatt Regency Sacramento and includes free transportation thanks to Lyft Community Grants, as well as translation services, a children’s activity center, and resume development assistance. In addition, T-Mobile and other corporate partners are partnering to distribute free phones and year-long T-Mobile service plans to newcomers at the fair.
Media interested in arranging on-site interviews with representatives from Welcome.US and its event partners or with newcomers attending the hiring fair should contact [email protected].

The Sacramento event follows on the success of recent hiring fairs in Denver, San Diego, Seattle, Atlanta, and Northern Virginia, which have connected more than 1,300 applicants with local and national employers, to date.
“We know that securing a job is one of the best ways we can help our new Afghan and Ukrainian neighbors find a sense of belonging, achieve self-sufficiency, and immediately give back to their communities,” said Welcome.US CEO Nazanin Ash. “Newcomers have a wealth of talent and experience that employers are eager to tap into, and this hiring fair is an opportunity to help them restart their careers in the Sacramento area.”
Jobseekers will have the opportunity to meet with dozens of local employers hiring for roles at all skill levels, from hourly to salaried, including Alaska Airlines, Extended Stay America, T-Mobile, Hyatt, SP Plus Corporation, and many other organizations and companies with a presence in the Sacramento area. Many employers will be interviewing on site, and some candidates may secure job offers. Event organizers are expecting more than 250 newcomers to attend.
“On Veterans Day, as we honor those who served in our armed forces and their families, we are grateful for our partnership with SOAA and to the veteran community’s continued commitment to our Afghan allies,” Ash added. “The organizations and companies coming together for this hiring fair represent the best of what Americans have proven to be time and again: welcomers.”
In total, the United States has welcomed 80,000 Afghan evacuees since last August, and nearly 8,000 Afghan newcomers have settled in California, which is among the top states where displaced Ukrainians have relocated as well, according to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
